Several Democrats have said that they do not plan to attend President Donald Trump’s joint discourse to Congress on Tuesday.
The speech, which will be attended by members of the Senate and the House of Representatives, marks its first speech against Congress during its second term.
Senator Elissa Slotkin, a Michigan Democrat, is expected to deliver the democratic refutation to Trump’s speech.

The minority leader of the House of Representatives, Hakeem Jeffries, has said that it will be present “to make clear the nation that there is a strong opposition party ready, willing and capable of serving as a control and balance on the excesses of the administration.”
Here are the Democrats who have said that Trump’s comments will jump on Tuesday night.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
New York representative, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, said he will not attend the management.

Senator Chris Murphy
The Connecticut senator, Chris Murphy, is also omitting Trump’s comments and, instead, will attend an event with the progressive organization of Moveon defense.

Senator Ron Wyden

Oregon Senator Ron Wyden said he will organize an online City Council instead of seeing the address.

The representative of Virginia, Gerry Connolly, is also sitting Trump’s comments to Congress.
“Since I was chosen for Congress, I have never lost a speech of the State of the Union,” he wrote in a statement. “But we have never seen our democracy so proven. We have never seen our laws, institutions and the separation of powers so attacked from the inside.”
Rep. Becca Balint
In a statement, Vermont Becca Balint representative announced that he will not attend the address.
“I saw him make an oath to defend and protect the Constitution, and all he did was throw lies, Stoke Division and Fear and not make any effort to unify our country. I will not sit and I will see him to lie to the US people again,” he wrote in an X publication.
Rep. Don Beyer
The representative of Virginia, Don Beyer, is also omitting the event.
“Tonight, President Trump will go to a coeual branch of the Government for which he has demonstrated a total contempt and contempt,” Beyer wrote in a publication about X. “Meanwhile, my voters are seeing their life destroyed, often illegally. What he is doing is not normal, it is not acceptable and I will not attend.”
