El Alto El Fuego 'In the hands of Russia, "says Ukraine after the US meeting in Saudi Arabia

London – The perspectives of a high fire between Russia and Ukraine are “in the hands of Moscow”, a main assistant for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday after the successful US conversations of U. Ukraine in Saudi Arabia.

Andriy Yermak, the head of the Zelenskyy office, was part of the Ukrainian delegation that met with US representatives in Jeddah, where both teams agreed to pursue a high fire of 30 days and use the pause in the fight as a launch dish for complete peace negotiations to put an end to the invasion of their 3 -year -old neighbor of Russia.

“Ukraine is ready to accept a 30 -day fire if Russia agrees,” Yermak wrote on Telegram on Wednesday morning. “This is a necessary step to start working in real security guarantees and prepare the final terms of a peace agreement.”

“But now the key is in the hands of Moscow: the whole world will see who really wants to end the war and who is simply playing over time,” he added.

Moscow was preparing to listen to the details of the American meeting on Tuesday, with officials “analyzing” the statements published publicly, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.

He added that Russia “does not want to advance” on the high potential fire, saying that Kremlin will want to obtain details directly from Washington. A “Summit phone call” can be on the cards, he said.

The return of President Donald Trump to the office has put Ukraine in a strategic vision, which he can no longer trust the “Ironclad”, if sometimes he doubts, according to many Ukrainians, US support during the time of former President Joe Biden in office.

Trump has aligned with Russian narratives about the conflict, framing Ukraine as the key impediment to peace, falsely blaming kyiv for beginning the war, undermining Zelenskyy’s legitimacy as president and that seeks to recover years of American help through a controversial shared treatment.

Last week, the Trump administration announced a freezing about US military aid and the exchange of intelligence with Ukraine. Tuesday’s meeting in Saudi Arabia saw that the pause got up, authorities said.

Moscow has welcomed the radical change of the United States in rhetoric and politics, which culminated in an explosive meeting of the Trump-Zelenskyy Oval Office last month.

kyiv has struggled to demonstrate its preparation for peace, while stressing that no agreement can be successful without US security guarantees to deter repetition of Russian aggression. Ukrainian leaders have also questioned Russia’s apparent preparation to end the fighting and urged their US partners to be careful with Kremlin.

After Tuesday’s conversations, Zelenskyy wrote on the telegram of the 30 -day fire plan: “Ukraine accepts this proposal, we consider it positive, we are ready to take this step. The United States of America needs to convince Russia to do so.”

“We agree, and if the Russians agree, the silence will enter into force at the same time,” he added. “An important element in today’s discussions is the preparation of the United States to restore defense assistance to Ukraine and intelligence support.”

“Ukraine is ready for peace,” Zelenskyy wrote. “Russia must also show if you are ready to end the war, or continue.

Trump told reporters on Wednesday that he expects imminent conversations with Russian representatives. “Ukraine has accepted it, and with luck Russia accepts it,” said the president on the high fire.

“We will meet them later today and tomorrow, and I hope we can eliminate a deal,” he continued. “But I think the high fire is very important. If we can get Russia to do it, it will be great. If we can’t, we move on and people will be killed. Many people.”

When asked how close the fire was high, Trump replied: “Well, I hope it is in the next few days. I would like to see. I know we have a great meeting with Russia tomorrow, and hopefully great conversations occur,” Trump said.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, in a statement said that “the ball is now in the Russian court.”

“This is an important moment for peace in Ukraine and now we all need to redouble our efforts to reach a lasting and safe peace as soon as possible,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

The envoy of the Middle East Steve Witkoff, who participated in the recent US conversations with Ukraine and Russia, will visit Moscow “in the next few days,” according to a source familiar with the plans. The state agency of Ria Novosti, administered by Russia, also reported on Wednesday that the director of the CIA, Jim Ratcliffe, spoke by phone with Sergey Naryshkin, head of the Russian foreign intelligence service.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview published Wednesday that he does not believe Trump wants to provide security guarantees to Ukraine.

“He has his own vision of the situation, which he affirms regularly and directly,” said Lavrov. “This war should never have begun.”

Despite the apparent progress in Jeddah, the fight continues. The fierce combat is ongoing along the front line, particularly in the Western Russian Kursk region, where Moscow’s forces are pushing Ukrainian troops backwards of positions seized in an offensive of August surprise.

During the night, both parties launched drones through the shared edge. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the fall of 21 Ukraine.

The Ukraine Air Force reported three missiles and 133 drones launched into the country during the night. The Air Force said that 98 of the drones were demolished and 20 lost in flight without causing damage. Odesa’s regions, Kharkiv, Sumy and Kyiv were affected, said the Air Force.
