Senator Amy Klobuchar supported Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday after the Volatile White House Meeting with President Donald Trump on Friday, saying that “I just couldn’t believe” how Friday’s meeting was held …
The Minnesota Democrat told the “This Week” presenter of ABC News, George Stephanopoulos, was “horrified by what happened in the oval office” and believes that the consequences of the exchange “is not the best for the best interest of President Trump.”
“We are with our friends, not our enemies,” Klobuchar said. “The great country of America enters negotiations with force, not of surrender.”
Klobuchar said that she, along with other senators from both sides of the hall, had been with Zelenskyy before going to the White House and said she had been “great spirit.”

Seeing the video of the explosive meeting, Klobuchar said that “I simply couldn’t believe it.”
“It was Vice President Vance, particularly, who was on the offensive, who was rebuking President Zelenskyy, who was simply trying to explain that … we needed a strong security commitment of all our allies to have a lasting peace, which is something that President Trump says he wants to see.”
Klobuchar speculated on how the meeting became caustic so quickly when Stephanopoulos asked him if he had been an ambush.
“Or it was a configuration of an ambush, or they simply put themselves so undressed, the president and the vice president, which happened what happened,” he said. “It is the chaos of this presidency.”
Meanwhile, the British ambassador to the lord of the United States Peter Mandelson said that the American-Ukraine relationship needs a “restart” after the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting.
“I think Ukraine should be the first to commit to a high fire and challenge the Russians to follow,” Mandelson told Stephanopoulos. “And then, as part of the Development Plan for this negotiation, Europeans and perhaps some other countries also have to consider how they will put the forces on the ground to play their role in providing security and lasting deterrence for Ukraine.”
European leaders gathered in London on Sunday to discuss a peace plan of the French Kingdom in which they are working with Zelenskyy who plan to present to the United States.
Mandelson said it will be important to “create the circumstances in which enough pressure” is presented “by force [Russia] to the negotiating table. “
“And then we will see the real color of their intentions and what they are prepared to agree and maintain,” he said. “But if it goes wrong, we must be there on the side of Ukraine, continuing to assemble them to ensure that they have the ability to resist any additional Russian attack with ourselves aligned behind them in that eventuality.”
