Manhunt intensifies for the suspect in Montana Bar Mass Shoting

A human hunt is intensifying for the gunman who allegedly killed a cantinero and three clients in a bar in southwest Montana, authorities said.

Michael Paul Brown allegedly opened fire around 10:30 am local time on Friday at the Owl Bar in Anaconda, a city of approximately 9,000 people in southwest Montana, according to the Department of Justice of Montana.

Brown lived next to the bar and was not alien to the area and the establishment, authorities said.

He fled the scene and believes he was armed and dangerous, said Lee Johnson with the Department of Justice of Montana.

Brown was in the army from 2001 to 2005 and the National Guard from 2006 to 2009, an army spokesman said. A year passed in Iraq and left the service in the range of sergeant, said the army.

Police said they found the White Ford F-150 truck in 2007 that Brown was last seen driving on Friday, but Brown remains in general.

Numerous local, state and federal agencies are looking in the area through land and air, authorities said.

“The residents of the area have been notified and are encouraged to stay inside their homes and on a maximum alert,” said Johnson.

The authorities have not said what led to shooting at the bar or a possible reason.

The shooting caused a great presence of application of the law, including the office of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives, which sent agents to the scene.

The governor of Montana, Greg Gianforte, said on social networks on Friday that he was “closely monitoring the situation that involved an active shooter in Anaconda” and asked for sentences for the victims.
